Pushing the boundaries on how electrophysiological signals can be acquired or derived in the ear and around the head all the way from design, modeling, and validation of the electrode(s) and analog front end to the overall system architecture, firmware, and algorithm design with accompanying signal processing. Working with PIs of university labs to fund, collaborate, and further advance their research

    • Electrical Concept Engineer
      • Oct 2016 - Apr 2018

Part of a highly creative team responsible for investigating next-generation technologies and developing novel concepts to bring 'moon shot' ideas to a reality. This entails working closely with company leadership and research leads to prove out compelling use cases that give the company a competitive advantage and ultimately influence the 5+ year product plan. Developed a personal, immersive, untethered, open-ear audio augmented reality experience using ultra-wide band radar and an inertial measurement unit to create the needed six degrees of freedom for interaction with an environment. This information was then relayed to another algorithm that adjusted the audio in milliseconds to enable the user to hear externalized sound sources while simultaneously hearing and interacting with the environment around them. The outcome of this work can be seen in Bose AR.Other roles have included developing a rapid audio and user interface prototyping platform, designing functional units for user research, and investigating technologies for haptic feedback, unconventional electronics such as conductive fabrics and inks for sensors, and low power displays all for creating a more natural UI. • May 2013 - Oct 2016

Work with cross-functional project teams on various products, from home theatre systems to professional football headsets to early prototypes and concepts, from cradle to grave in understanding, designing, and testing them.Responsible for prototyping personal and home theatre sized immersive/3D audio systems (i.e. Dolby Atmos, MPEG-H, etc.) by utilizing end-fire arrays, HRTFs with near-field modeling, biquad filter design, and vector based amplitude panning.Redesigned internal tests by using laser vibrometer measurements of transducers surfaces to track various rocking modes as the soft parts evolved over time. Designed electrical and software architecture supporting electronic ink display prototypes, including all board layouts and supporting code. Completed the Bose acoustics class (MIT 6.312), Six Sigma/Lean Yellow Belt, and UL's Hazard Based Safety Engineering for UL/IEC 62368-1. Member of IEC TC108 whose role is standardization in the field of safety for audio/video and similar technology, information technology and communication technology equipment. Show less
