While working on TD's VMC (VMware Cloud) team I have provided advice on how to leverage their investment in VMware vRealize Automation (vRA 7.x) and vRealize Orchestrator (vRO 7.x and JavaScript) to maximum effect. I have been able to bring insight based on previous lessons learned to address integration challenges in a large enterprise environment with disparate technologies such as VMware NSX, vSphere, Nokia QIP IPAM, Salt among others. With these insights issues or reliability and stability have been addressed to improve the user experience and drive efficiency by reducing the need for re-work.

I was at Rogers for about 10 weeks. This is what I did in that time. ● On-call support for Windows Server 2003 and Active Directory administration. ● Review VMware Virtualization Infrastructure 2 (VI2) design with respect to supportability and security. ● Lead the evaluation team in creating selection criteria, selecting candidate products, conducting evaluations, and finally making recommendation to management for a VI2 monitoring solution. Management agreed to the recommendation and approved the purchase of monitoring solution. ● Testing and validation of internal DR process. On a regular basis there are internal and external DR exercises. Additionally, the DR process is used to populate the isolated lab envronment. to ensure that dev/test work was being done against a reasonably current copy of production.

      ● Hired to complete custom Windows server and desktop solution created by Microsoft Consulting based on Windows PE 1.x, VBScript and HTA. Solution was used to create reference builds and leverage Symantec Ghost for deployment. CTC policy was to use off the shelf software, in this case Microsoft BDD 2.5, rather than develop and maintain custom solution. ● Participated in the detailed design and planning sessions to determine the most appropriate migration path taking into account the migration of user accounts from Windows NT Domain Services to Active Directory 2003, migration from SMS 2.0 to SMS 2003 with OSD (Operating System Deployment) pack, deploying Windows XP over Windows NT Professional while maintaining user data. ● Most of the rest of the time was spent in the detailed design, development and building test cases for the user state migration. The solution consisted of approximately 3000+ lines of VBScript and implementation of MIcrosoft USMT 2.6. This was made more difficult due to the fact that the Windows NT desktop did not have individual user profiles, all profiles were shared. In addition the same solution could be used by the sustaining organization to perform routine backup and restore of user data when doing fresh builds or rebuilds of desktops or laptops.
