Andy is a very competent 3D cad designer, with the ability to add value to the process through the integration of CFD, FEA, rendering & animation and a sound understanding of engineering first principles makes him adaptable to a broad engineering spectrum.

Gary Neil

Andy worked several times in my team, in his last role as Specialist in Symbian Mechanics Performance he worked on extracting and analyzing relevant consumer data which could then be used to improve our Mechanics competitive situation. Andy was able to show real skill in identifying this and presenting it to both engineers and management in a succinct and easily understandable format which could be used in all levels in the organization. As part of the role he developed systematic monitoring methodology which could be then used for Mechanics competitiveness improvement of products used by consumers. He played a major role working with both key stakeholders, external agencies to assist in a major change project through a series of global workshops in all sites with mechanical design to share and promote the use of the analysis and data for new product development.

Working on new product development in their engineering department for 75kw-1Mwatt commercial & industrial Natural Gas Boilers. Some of the Projects involved:- - designing sheet metal product casing to meet their groups industrial design. - Design, modelling & CFD analysis of a Gas transition duct which are aluminium high pressure die casted. - A new high capacity Air Filter development using polypropylene with plastic clip features for quick filter medium replacement and filter removal. CFD to minimise flow resistance across the filter and reduce noise. - Concentric flue case adapter design which involves the need for complex mould tool design and seals to reduce piece part cost. FEA non linear simulation was used for seal design. - Fabricated welded plinth/base design, which reduced the part cost and used FEA to ensure adequate strength was maintained
