The Young Blake Expedition to the Kermadec Islands took 30 secondary school students from around New Zealand on board HMNZS Canterbury to the Kermadec Islands in August 2012. As Marine Operations Director, the role was responsible for all marine based activities during the expedition, including liaison with Royal New Zealand Navy staff and support to the Expedition Leader.
