I had the honor of working with Andrew for 18 months. During this time, Andrew worked for Dumfries Saints Rugby Club and he was part of the highly respected Modern Apprentice program with Scottish Rugby. Andrew took ownership of large scale programs and projects autonomously, and dealt with all stakeholders (Scottish Rugby, 50+ schools, and the Dumfries & Galloway Council) in the most professional manner. He displayed excellent organizational skills and I valued his superb attention to detail. He ultimately helped to pioneer new initiatives and build invaluable partnerships. Andrew takes pride in his work and enjoys being held accountable for deliverables. Andrew demonstrated great aptitude as a coach and as a coach educator. As a 19 year-old he mentored coaches and teachers, always much older than him, with humility and grace. This revealed his emotional intelligence as well as his ability to influence without authority which is a rare skill. His players loved him as a coach, and coaches and teachers prized his expertise. He has a great way of building confidence in those around him. I had to rely heavily on Andrew for us to accomplish our goals and meet the expectations of all stakeholders and sponsors. It was easy to do, because he is a self-starter and not once did he not rise to the level of responsibility I have entrusted him with. Andrew is a talented and versatile individual, and if I ever get the opportunity to work with him again, I would do so in a heartbeat!
