Caracas, Venezuela I taught two sections of 5th grade English and Creative Thinking using originally designed course materials (22 students per section). Additionally, I taught a 12th grade course in Music History & Philosophy. This was during the 2014 protests in Caracas, which lasted over 3 months. It was a very moving and compelling time. I tried to teach my 5th graders about the value of morality in a city where corruption is blatantly more beneficial than honest work. We learned Shel Silverstein poems and I told them stories about California, using the word 'dude' a lot. If anything, teaching makes your soul grow -- I recommend it to any adult.
