The goal of my project was the development of a universal Yeast Surface Display, previously engineered with proteins of interest. The experiments I have designed and conducted involved yeast protein expression and purification via column and FPLC, followed by gel electrophoresis analysis, mainly SDS-PAGE, and display control via cytometry analysis using AttuneTM NxT Acoustic Focusing Cytometer. I have graduated the TRAP (Train the Trainer) school in July 2015 and since then I have been involved in several training events as coordinator and facilitator, where I have delivered more than 100 hours of training. The most important event was the Leadership school organized annually by BEST that has the goal to form the future presidents of the local groups. The content I have delivered was focused on project management, creativity, communication, facilitation and public speaking.

I was the first female president of local BEST group in Messina and as leader of +20 volunteers I had several responsibilities: 1. To keep the focus on the goals and strategic direction established for the year with my board and group members.2. To have good collaboration within the team3. To maintain a fruitful relationship with university, institution and other associationsIn May 2015, BEST Messina hosted the National engineering competition EBEC for 3 days, during which we worked tirelessly to ensure the comfort of all participants and the success of the event. Beside overviewing the planning, I was in charge of a small Job Fair organized during the first day in order to give the opportunity to italian students to meet companies, institutions and participate in several workshops. Research Intern

The project I worked on for my bachelor thesis was centered on the development of new chemical sensors for water and milk contaminants. During the internship I tested different BODIPY chromophores for their ability to coordinate different metal cations or/and to form supramolecular structures with other organic molecules of interest, such as melamine. During the internship I have learned how to prepare samples suitable for UV-Vis spectroscopy and NMR H1, and how to operate the instruments.
