GOOD (formerly Gexsi) is a sustainable alternative to Google, operated by our social business Good Search, together with two further social search engines: SuchHier and PandaSearch. The common idea: The revenues generated while searching the web are allocated to support good causes. This way, we all become part of communities which make a positive difference every day, with the search engines having an incredible power to share the stories about the supported solutions among an ever growing community.

Gexsi is a social business with the mission to close the finance gap for social entrepreneurs who invent new business models that tackle our most pressing social and environmental challenges. The enterprise developed out of an initiative of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship back in 2001 – The Global Exchange for Social Investment (GEXSI). Today, Gexsi incubates or supports the development of social startups and initiatives which use the power of entrepreneurship to make the world a better place such as: Good Search – The search engine for a better world (2018), The Generation Forest Cooperative (2016), B Corp Germany, the German chapter of B Lab Europe (2014), or the Rainforest Connect Fund (nature conservation led by a German family office) (2012).

May 2005 - Feb 2016
GEXSI is an initiative which had been designed back in 2001 under the leadership of Pamela Hartigan, at the time founding CEO of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. The idea was to create a platform, the Global Exchange for Social Investment (GEXSI), which matches philanthropic investors with accredited social entrepreneurship initiatives around the globe. Unlike other initiatives like the recent $500 million philanthropic collaborative for system change, Co-Impact, GEXSI was only partially fueled by philanthropists and hence took a market-based approach. GEXSI generated its funding through advisory services and occasional incubation and management of social business which had been spun off, among others in Madagascar and Congo. Andreas joined the initiative as Head Development Investments in 2005, when GEXSI was turned from a program of the Schwab Foundation into a UK Charity. Later, Andreas co-founded GEXSI's offspins, GEXSI LLP and, after having moved to Berlin, Germany, GEXSI GmbH, which became Germany's second Certified B Corporation. Following a 2-year preparatory phase, Andreas, together with David Diallo and Kevin Fuchs, revamped the GEXSI idea as a digital platform which re-allocates a portion of the world's revenues from internet search engine to social entrepreneurship initiatives around the globe.
