Oct 2018 - Dec 2018
For Christmas of 2018 I organized a food kitchen, and donation center for Christmas for families who needed the help, or anyone who needed a meal. The donations gathered ranged from clothing, shoes, toys, house hold items, baby/child necessities, personal hygiene products, activity items, so on. I prepared for months by; - Gathering donations including buying things with my own money to provide donations. - Finding 2 other volunteers to cook to help provide meals. - Making eye catching posters to promote the event. - Renting a large warm space for everyone to gather. - Gathering meal items, Snack items, drinks, etc. - Advertising on social media platforms to bring more attention. It turned out to be a huge hit. We were able to get over ten large tables full of donations to families in need, we got a large part of our community together for Christmas, We gave away free food drinks and donations to those in need. Children got Christmas present. Parents got new things they needed. Our community got a warm welcoming environment with a hot meal. The top skills I needed to complete this; - Advertising - Eye catching posters/flyers - Researching - Assisting - Finding appropriate and professional volunteers - Compassion Show less
