I served in a departmental leadership role with Andrea while she served as our Chief Communications Officer. In my role I relied on Andrea’s help and counsel on matters as diverse as responding to public records requests and social media comments and shaping communication and public engagement activities to promote city planning projects I was leading. I watched Andrea grow into a difficult and demanding role, often times having to switch from crisis response mode to project promotion mode to reporting mode all in the course of a day. Her fun and engaging personality offered our team a welcome boost and afforded our bureaucratic governmental agency a refreshing persona. Being the voice and face of government oftentimes means you bear the brunt of public frustration and even anger. This is taxing for anyone, but Andrea always remained passionate, committed, and let her personality shine. I’m fortunate to have had her support.
