  “Kyosei” is a Japanese concept that roughly translates to “living and working together for the common good.” This principle has guided my company through decades of exciting work with a diverse clientele including government organizations, Fortune 500s and solopreneurs. Even after more than two decades, I continue to get excited about the training, coaching and consulting services we provide to help our clients and their businesses to thrive. I consider myself fortunate to be able to speak at conferences and corporate events on enlightened leadership, work-life balance, meaningful work and employee engagement, and love the fact that my audiences are now ready to jump into ideas on how to implement these ideas in their lives and work, rather than having to be sold on the concept. After 15 years in business, Kyosei has grown to include two sub-brands: Kyosei Coaching offers career, life and entrepreneur coaching services to support purpose-driven individuals and small business owners to transform their lives, work and businesses. Kyosei Creative, our ethical marketing and web design division, grew from the increasing demand for hands-on marketing services that naturally evolved out of the work we did with clients on designing the foundations of their business brand and culture. Our small- and mid-size clients appreciate this holistic approach. They love the simplicity and time savings of having one trusted provider for a variety of business needs.   I have been supporting individuals and organizations to reach their full potential for more than 25 years, over which I developed the Kyosei Thrive Model™. We use the Kyosei Thrive Model to help individuals and organizations identify their strengths, gaps and priorities in growing their capacity to thrive in life, work and business. This model shows individuals how to step beyond the elusive quest for balance to achieve Life-Work Integrity, the sustained state of thriving created when who you are is aligned with what you do in all areas of your life and work. When working with leaders, we use this framework to help the leader grow their own capacity to thrive. Once they understand it on a personal level, we support them to apply it with their team to enhance performance and fulfilment.   In 1994, I moved to Japan. In one of my first — and most memorable — speaking engagements, I spoke on the topic of creating passion in the workplace to a mixed audience of managers and employees. After the presentation, two people approached me. The first was an employee. “That was great,” he said. “I really loved your ideas. But my boss would never go for stuff like that.” The second person was a manager. “I liked it,” she said, “But I just don’t think my employees care about it enough.” That’s all I needed. I knew the will was there even if the research to link it to profits wasn’t there yet. My challenge: to bridge the gap. Working for a variety of organizations, I: • facilitated experiential workshops on leadership, professional development, social and environmental responsibility, sustainable economic development, career resilience, transition management and life management skills to international audiences of up to 1000 people • participated in strategic planning and course development • assisted in the development of marketing materials and a bilingual cross-cultural awareness campaign Ultimately, my time and work in Japan has inspired me to pursue my current path with Kyosei Consulting.
