By using a combination of the cutting-edge techniques of superresolution microscopy and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, we evidenced how MDGA proteins inhibit synaptogenesis during early stages of neuronal development. Through microscopical, electrophysiological and behavioral approaches in transgenic mice models we could show the neurodevelopmental role of Nf2 in the central nervous system. Besides we could establish that Nf2, previously linked to peripheral neurodegenerative conditions, regulates the functional recovery of peripheral nerves after crush injury.
