I have had several professional roles within the Baltimore Public School System, including Special Education Department Chair, Special Education Teacher, and Library Media Specialist. Throughout my tenure I have educated students grades 9-12 in Effective Learning for College and Career Readiness (ELCCR), SAT preparation, and Integrated Physics and Chemistry, acted as technical liaison and teacher of leader core in addition to managing 3,000 individual titles/pieces and writing curriculum, and instructed prepared and original lessons in alignment with specific accreditation criteria. In addition, I was promoted from Special Education teacher to Woodlawn High Schools Special Education Department Chair, where I oversaw professional development of instructors and staff along with encouraging regular communication between educators and parents/families. Some additional accomplishments from my career include: • Modify content, processes, and products appropriately to assist students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with system regulations. • Formally and informally assess student progress by developing individualized strategies to ensure student success. • Planned and implemented a county-wide curriculum to successfully deliver new and innovative programs. • Differentiated instructor of lessons in alignment with AASL, Common Core, and 21st Century Learning Standards. • Served as an active member of the Special Education Action Team. • Modified instructional plans for special education students in collaboration with special educators to deliver services and expectations for students who required assistance with medical, mental, or psychological disabilities. • Acted as case manager for 30 cross-curriculum students needing special developmental assistance.
