I guide students through a series of postures in a hot room, encouraging relaxation and attention to the breath. I seek to encourage students to explore new places in their yoga practice and tailor my classes to suit students' needs. I also do the sign-in, some basic front desk duties like purchases, and answer student questions. My thesis work focuses on the politics and identity of locavorism or eating locally. My research interests center around finding alternative non-commodified modes of circulation of food and an ethic of care approach to the global food chain; the political implications of naturalizing food as commodified; how privilege and culture frame food and health discourses and limit accessibility of food and wellness; how current alternative food movements while framed as radical continually reproduce status quo relations of power and marginalize others.
