Gloria Blumanhourst
Andrea Akers and I served together as members of the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts. She was a teen-ager at the time, the representative for girl members. Her analytical approach to every issue before the board was astounding. I have been honored to watch that thoughtful girl mature into a young woman determined to make the world a better place with her actions, her problem-solving skills, and her diligent scholarship.

Andrea serves as Managing Editor of the peer-reviewed journal, "The Applied Anthropologist." I serve as Editor-in-Chief. She has proven to be highly energetic, well-organized, and innovative. Her work is completed in a timely fashion, very professionally, and always "with a smile" (inferred electronically, since I rarely see her in person). Andrea is a top-flight individual!
