Assisted in developing and launching a program to support college freshmen identified by admissions as underprepared. Our program goals were to improve retention and GPA of our students through intensive one-on-one support and frequent contact. Our students showed consistently higher GPAs and higher retention levels compared to similar students who were not enrolled in our program. I worked to develop student skills in organization, time management, and studying. I referred students to other on-campus resources as necessary. I acted as a life coach to students, discussing any issues students want to discuss that may impact their class performance and experience at our university, including housing, financial aid, work, internships, choice of major, course selection, mental and physical health, interactions with family and friends, etc. I performed outreach in the spring to prospective students and their families. I supervised one full time staff member and several student workers each semester. I created and edited program materials and protocols. I conducted record keeping for the program, including maintaining a database in MS Access and processing and reporting data using Access and MS Excel. I gave presentations to faculty and staff on campus about our program. Show less
