As architects and accessibility consultants, we collaborate with built environment teams to make sure people of all abilities and ages have integrated access to beautifully designed spaces. At Studio Pacifica, we consult with architectural design teams, developers, civic planners, educators, and others in the greater community. Our goal is to help create “anything but institutional” inclusive designs that meet—or exceed— code requirements. The Studio Pacifica team brings architectural expertise as well as first-person experience to the table—a fact that enhances our credibility and effectiveness when it comes to consulting on universal design, building codes, ADA and FHA as well as ways of thinking about difference. The firm collaborates with many highly respected Pacific Northwest architectural design firms to improve access in civic, commercial, education, hospitality, retail, health, multi-family residential projects. Andrea Kovich has a decade of experience in the architecture field, half of that spent as accessibility consultant. Her primary focus is reviewing new construction drawing sets for compliance with codes and guidelines. Andrea’s professional experience in theatre and her passion for inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of theater bring a heightened awareness to our team. As a wheelchair user, Andrea brings her personal experience to all endeavors. • Duties include reviewing construction drawing sets for compliance with federal and state codes including: the 2010 ADA Standards, the 2012 and 2015 IBC, the 2009 ICC A117.1, and other applicable guidelines (such as Fair Housing, the ABA, and USAF). • Responsible for writing reports, updating charts, and other administrative tasks.
