I've been working for Maspeth Town Hall at PS/IS 49 for a year, almost two in October. I enjoy working with kids, making sure that they are reminded education is important. I work with all different grade levels from kindergarten to fifth grade. Due to COVID, we are required to socially distance with other students in groups, each classroom has one or at least two counselors in the room helping the student with homework or studying for a test. I worked at the Lost Battalion Hall Recreation Center as a After School Counselor. During the time I was allowed to work for 2 hours or more depending on my schedule. Each day that I arrive, I sit with the kids to help them with any homework that he/she is having trouble on. Once everything is done, I helped the other counselors with the cleaning and proceed to do fun activities with the kids till it's time for them to get picked up. My job was to make sure everyone is respecting one another, informing other counselors if there's any trouble, getting to my job on time, and bring a positive atmosphere to everyone. I got applied to this worksite through the WLG program which is similar to the SYEP at the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council. Show less
