Team owner decided to join 2023 USF Championship by Cooper Tires, entrusting me with the team management in June 2022.As budget was tight my role consisted in both managing the team organization and leading the race engineering department.Unfortunately, due to owner budget-related issue I only had the opportunity to prepare the season in the final months of 2022, without competing in it.Key task during these months were:- Team personnel selection and management (planning flights, working days and test to optimize budget avoiding working quality loss).- Driver selection and management (We tested several drivers, and I took care of the business part of the agreement and the development program for the upcoming season).- Business plan and expenses forecast.- Warehouse and supplier management.- Performance development program for 2022 and 2023 season (including definitions of private testing and DIL days).- Race engineer for every event (including pre and post event reports, simulator days etc…) for the 3 team’s cars.- Start of Tatuus USF-17 and USF-22 KPI definition and studies.- Start of Cooper tires main parameter evaluation (through the help of thermos scanner, datasheets and several tire testing days).- Daily use of PI toolset and Pi toolbox. I was called through one of my colleagues to provide engineering services for a test in Miami-Homestead in December 2021.After that test I followed during 2022 several other testing days in North American racetracks providing coaching to kart drivers at their first experiences with formula cars.During these testing days I put a lot of efforts in testing several psychological and technical approaches to better exploit the driver attitude not only for the test but also in sight of their road to drive formula cars.Main test done were:- Driver confidence with a non-ideal car setup.- Driver adaptability with throttle and brakes to adapt the tire energy on difficult situations (extreme track temp, used tires, qualy sim).- Driver self-analysis to better understand what his main issues on track are.- Driver coaching to race with no radio communication to find autonomous solutions with no external helps.- Understanding of different fuel load on a very light formula car.- Test of different tire compound to better exploit car performance (Yokohama and Cooper tires).- Coaching of main physical and mental procedures to faster troubleshoot problems on car. • Oct 2019 - Sep 2020

In October 2019 I was called by the owner of Gloria Car's s.r.l. to design the evolution of the successful prototype C8P which has been racing from 2007 on in the Italian and European FIA Hillclimb Championships. The challenge was designing a modern race car starting from the previous tubular chassis to challenge more powerful cars and providing some new shapes in the Hillclimb context. The car was thought for running a 1.0L motorcycle engine, with the possibility of using powerful ones, alongside Pirelli tires and a modern scheme for front and rear suspensions. In addition, it was meant to be the first covered wheel's prototype running a real front wing instead of the traditional splitter. I did all the solid and surface CAD modelling of the car from scratches, testing on powerful workstation every change made. The final result was a racing car with extreme downforce and balanced aerodynamics, ready to be built. Unfortunately, Covid-19 pandemic and a global change on European Hillclimb technical rules, made the car unsuitable for being realized. Show less

On 2018 the Formula X championship organizer opened a team running 3 Predator's PC015 and asked me to manage the team for on-track activities. Basically, my job started and ended at the racetrack: - Deciding car setup and strategies. - Coaching drivers with data and videos. - Managing electrical systems of the car. - Mounting and dismounting box and related structures. Both in 2018 and 2019 the team achieved a P2 in the final classification with rookie drivers. During 2019 my presence on track decreased gradually for other working and studying opportunities. During months between April and July 2018, I decided to work only for myself and try improving results obtained by Predator's PC015 exploiting aero. performances without increasing building processes costs. I completely rebuilt the car starting from the same chassis changing the approach on diffusers, wing and sidepods; the model was CFD tested with Open Foam and gave more than positive results. In February 2017 I was contacted by the Predator's s.r.l. owner to design starting from the tubular chassis of the previous model (PC010) the new car. Predator's s.r.l. is a little society providing since 2000 low-cost formula cars equipped with motorcycle engines, the only guideline given by the owner was increasing overall car performance trying to lower the more possible designing and building process costs. After 9 months of works alongside Formula SAE and university courses the new model was ready for the presentation. The car was presented in Maranello on 10th Dec 2017, then in January 2018 testing of PC015 started in Varano de Melegari track, followed by several more performance and reliability tests in short and medium racetracks in Italy (Cremona, Cervesina, Modena etc). The car competed in the 2018 Formula X championship winning both Driver and Constructor championships and achieving 3 of the 4 built cars in the first 3 places. By 2019 were built more than 20 chassis, in 2022 chassis built are more than 100. My main jobs on this project were: - Solid and surface modelling of the complete car starting from given tubular chassis and tires. - CFD testing of the model to ensure major issues were not happening on the car. - On-track testing with the previous model (PC010) to understand issues and limits and improve them on the new one. - Meetings alongside society owner and supplier to reduce at the best building costs. - Product industrial renderings to create a valid portfolio and increase orders before the start of 2018. - On-track testing with the new car to solve issues and improve performance gradually.
