      greater pittsburgh area My thesis research is focused on the development of novel antibiotics by targeting cold shock-related proteins (Csp) in E. coli. In silico modeling and screening lead compounds that bind and inhibit function of the Csps together with a combination of in vitro and in vivo experimental techniques are used in this project. I was successful in finding a small molecule that interfered with ssDNA binding of CspE and inhibited bacterial growth.
