We developed from scratch a low-cost solar-powered lighting system to provide sustainable light to low-income families without access to electricity. • The solution created uses an 8-bit AVR, 3 DC-DC converters, 18650 batteries, EMI filters, and ESD protection components. The software has implemented all MPPT systems, battery charge, discharge management, and PWM control of the luminaires. It substantially reduces the costs of large-scale manufacturing. • After a while, by flash memory constraint, We converted dozens of C functions that used floating point arithmetic to use only integers operators, reducing memory usage by more than 15%. • We are implementing MISRA-C coding standards in critical parts of the system to minimize the risk of failure.
