This includes the roadway, shoulder, boulevard, sidewalk, traffic and street signage, and various structures including bridges in order to ensure compliance with the Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways O. Reg. 239/02 and established road maintenance standards;• Assisted in maintenance of the City’s road classification system;• Reported and referred any dangerous street hazards to public or public safety for prompt action;• Reported on the physical condition of roadways, shoulders, boulevards, sidewalks, traffic and street signs, utility plants, and various roadway structures including bridges;• Prepared and maintained daily patrol reports;• Communicated, record and appropriately forward/followed up on any public complaints received related to immediate hazards and safety issues;• Occasionally appeared in court to give evidence regarding claims for property damage and personal injury;• Provided documentation to Risk Management in response to claims;• Assisted the Permit Section to ensure compliance of Road Occupancy Permits as required;• Completed special projects and research for reports and/or studies;• Performed other related duties as may be assigned, including working shifts and weekends in support of winter maintenance activities.
