I have had the pleasure to work with André on our District Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. His contributions quickly moved from that of a committee member to a consultant. He provided detailed insights into organizational structures, strategic priorities, and communication strategies. Andrè showed his leadership skills by coordinating both small group and large group activities. In addition, he demonstrated his strong research skills by evaluating numerous resources and making recommendations to us as district leaders. Andrè brings a passion to whatever he chooses to pursue.

Working with former superintendent Scot Graden and current superintendent Steve Laatsch, select members of the Board of Education, and community professionals, I helped initiate the district's first DEI Committee and DEI District Plan. I worked passionately to address district practices, policies, and procedures and seek to help establish a clear, measurable DEI Plan that will address inequities within the district, within the city, and and help the educationally community become culturally competent. As an initial step in the formation of Saline Area School's first DEI Committee, I conducted benchmarking of secondary and higher education programs to create and submit a DEI Proposal to Mr. Graden in October of 2018. I also worked to establish the district's current DEI Mission for Saline Area Schools.
