Then used knowledge of Partial Differential Equations to deal with shallow water equation by time differential to digital the equation. o Apply module on super computer and profile it - Used Fortran95 to code the digital equation, divided different functions into different subroutines to make the whole program become modular program. Profiled and time the program on super computer to find the functional relationship between data size and wall clock time of running the program. o Speed up module by OpenMP and other High Performance Computing tech – After found the most call-time and time-cost subroutine, applied OpenMP and other HPC tech in the subroutine to achieve multi-core computing which improved the performance of the whole program on super computer (multi-core environment) o Find bottle necks and figure out them – Profiled and analyzed the program again to find the bottle necks of the program. Researched the relationship between hardware and bottle necks then adjusted program to adapt hardware.
