Board Member and Research & Strategy Advisor
-
May 2019 - Present
Madagascar-based ONG Lalana specialised in transport and rural development. Active since 1998, it aims to contribute to the development, particularly in rural areas, through better transport infrastructure, advocacy, education and other road safety initiatives. (https://www.lalana.org/) I've supported Lalana since we worked together between 2012 and 2015, when I was based in Madagascar with international NGO Transaid. In May 2019, I started a volunteering role as a research and strategy adviser and later in the same year I became board member of the organisation. Together we are mobilising partners and funds to improve data collection and analysis on road safety issues in Madagascar, a long neglected but extremely important topic. Show less

GREENTECH CHALLENGE's mission is to make green business good business. They do this by connecting green tech startups with capital and professional consulting through a 4-day growth programme - which works remarkably well. A year after the first programme, 70% of startups have raised on average EUR 500k, their team has grown over 60% and their monthly revenue has tripled. As a Project Manager for GREENTECH CHALLENGE my role was to support the implementation of the programmes in multiple cities across Europe, while contributing to the strategic development of a young and growing company working towards sustainable development. Project Team Lead (part-time)
-
Apr 2018 - Aug 2018
The project Retaining Rural Access Knowledge of Experienced Rural Transport Sector Experts was awarded to Transaid in April 2018, with the objective of mapping, documenting and storing the knowledge of senior rural transport experts, packaging this knowledge into electronic formats appropriate for dissemination to a wider audience. The project produced 8 short films (currently being finalised) based on core themes, featuring interviews with selected experts. In addition, the short films will link to a knowledge mapping exercise including the participant senior rural transport experts. For this part-time position, my role was to coordinate the project team, develop the methodology to gather the knowledge of participant experts, conduct interviews and coordinate the production of the final short videos. The Atlantis Fellowship is an intensive university-break program abroad for American pre-med students. As a Site Manager for Lisbon, I was the first point of contact for a group of fellows. I coordinated the relationship with the hospital/doctors participating in the program, managed different service providers and organized group activities, in order to ensure that the students have the best possible study abroad experience in Lisbon. Apr 2010 - May 2015
Transaid is an international development NGO that identifies, champions, implements and shares local transport solutions which improve access to basic services and economic opportunities in developing countries. As a Project Manager for Transaid, my main responsibility was to work with communities, partner organisations, government agencies and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of Transaid's projects and programmes. This included managing budget, staff (teams of up to 8 staff), and activity implementation, as well as providing technical assistance in the field of transport and logistics. Additionally, I assisted with project development, research support, business development, and proposal development; I represented Transaid at a number of international conferences and technical meetings. During my time with Transaid, I successfully managed projects funded by various international donors and mostly in the field of transport and logistics for health. I was based in three different countries (Nigeria, Madagascar and Mozambique) for the duration of the projects I was responsible for. Show less
