"I came to JEA with a willingness to learn all about the electric, water, and sewage industry. The entire utility territory was unfamiliar to me and I never realized or knew of Investment Recovery! However, the experience has given me greater insight into this particular side of the industry. As a summer Co-op I had the privilege of working in Investment Recovery Operations (IRO). As a Business major with a concentration in Marketing and Management, my experience allowed me to apply the skills I’ve learned in the classroom to the real world. In IRO, we receive goods that JEA has retired and then market them in order to obtain the maximum return on investment (ROI) for the organization. While working in IRO I was able to view the inventory which ranged from ink cartridges, bolts, wire, and light poles to transformers. Other processes in IRO include high voltage testing, small engine repair, hazardous material disposal, transformer refurbishment, and painting of transformers, decorative poles, and fire hydrants in the community. Overall it was an amazing experience." -Anai D. Harley Show less
