Graduate Funding Specialist
-
May 2022 - Oct 2022
Capitalise specialises in financial technology that empowers SMEs. They provide credit checking facilities and aims to attain the best funding solution for SMEs. As a funding specialist I coordinated funding opportunities from start to finish. This included researching the best funding avenues bespoke to each business that required investment and nurturing the relationship between the business and lender. During this role I developed strong business acumen, built on my communication and time management skills and harnessed my ability to deliver under pressure. Further, I recognised the necessity of financial technologies that empower SMEs specifically, which constitute the majority of the business population.

Policy, Advocacy and Communications Coordinator
-
Nov 2019 - May 2020
UPSIGN is a charitable organisation and think tank based in University College London (UCL). It aims to develop solutions to key social and economic issues within Pakistan by connecting academics and innovators, as well as bridging the gap between Pakistan and British Pakistani’s. - I facilitated stakeholder related issues such as resourcing key connections that helped enable the aims of the organisation. - I monitored current affairs within Pakistan, specifically regarding the key focus areas (healthcare, energy, education, artificial intelligence, and agriculture) to keep core members of the organisation updated and to direct discussions accordingly. - Navigated funding routes both in the UK and Pakistan to implement the projects discussed. A key part of this involved gathering insight as to how the various ministries within Pakistan operate. - Worked towards the implementation of a robust public affairs infrastructure, focussing on building a stakeholder database, and generally bringing greater political awareness and policy development angle to the group. - I co-led communication tasks such as remodelling the organisations website, social media pages and coordinating the newly introduced newsletter to improve and spread awareness of the situation in Pakistan and what UPSIGN is doing to amend and alleviate the issues. Coordination of ‘The Global Development Workshops 2020’ in Islamabad, Pakistan with UKRI. 150 academics from the UK, Pakistan, and South Asia came together to form consortia to address global development challenges. - I managed the social media for both the official UK launch for the workshops at the Pakistan High Commission, London, and during the workshops. Recorded key consortia developed during the workshops needed for summary reports, and promoted the work of UPSIGN amongst the delegates. I wrote summary articles for each workshop which were edited for the organisations website and the second edition of UPSIGN’s newsletter.
