EFFAB is an association of organisations and companies active in the field of animal breeding and reproduction. Members of EFFAB are involved in the genetic improvement of different farm animal species: ruminants, pigs, poultry, fish, shellfish and insects. EFFAB’s role is to support its members by creating a political and societal environment which is supportive to sustainable developments in animal breeding and reproduction. EFFAB is a unique organisation that represents the majority of animal breeding and reproduction organisations and companies in Europe. Members are leading suppliers to European and worldwide farmers. EFFAB promotes responsible and balance breeding through the Code EFABAR, a code of Good practices for sustainable animal breeding. EFFAB informs governmental organisations, non-governmental organisations and the general public about the sector and future developments. The Farm Animal Breeding and Reproduction Technology Platform (FABRE TP) promotes research and innovation for sustainable animal breeding and reproduction in Europe. FABRE TP is the main contact point for farm animal breeding and reproduction organisations in Europe, aiming to mobilise the research efforts, technological development and innovation efforts in Europe. We bring together key stakeholders around a common vision for the development of technologies and practises around farm animal breeding and reproduction. FABRE TP started as an initiative of pro-active partners in breeding in 2005, then continued as an EC funded project in 2006, and is since 2009 an official European Technology Platform. Show less

QUALIVETS is a part of REPVET. RepVet was formed when the EU Directives controlling intra-Community trade in semen were introduced. In order to keep the Directives up to date with technical and other developments in the industry, the EU Commission requested the Working Group on Breeding livestock (WGBL) of COPA-COGECA to provide specialist advice in addition to that from EU Member States’ veterinary services (SCOFCAH). WGBL arranged for a specialist sub-group to be formed, ie REPVET composed of one A.I. industry veterinarian from each member state. QualiVets is a subgroup composed of one AI industry specialist in semen quality from each member state. Due to changes in the statutes of COPA-COGECA, this kind of subgroup could not be continued and since 2016, RepVet and Qualivets are working within EFFAB, European Forum of Farm Animals Breeders.
