    • Lead Histology Technician
      • 2019 - Present

With my background, I accepted this role and stepped confidently into a new lab environment. Along with the typical responsibilities, I found new opportunities to learn and refine my skillset, which meant the ability to provide more value to my team. My dedication to meeting customers’ needs combines with my commitment to quality, both of which I pursued with a steadfastness, tirelessly updating and discovering new methods to reach success. Clients notice and express their satisfaction at my work to my managers. Hearing their praise is all the reward I need. During this time, I also pursued additional professional advancement with a certification as a Histo-Technician. I believe this adds to my qualifications and consider it a career achievement. I’m proud of my ability to use my knowledge to train other technicians, taking initiative to direct processes. My manager continually notes how this results in more consistent and streamlined processes across the research study. Show less

    • Toxicology Technician & Histopathology Technician
      • Aug 2015 - Sep 2018

I began here as a toxicology technician, then transitioned to administration and study management, and finally histology technician. My work required ensuring effective communication with many departments and collaborating with investigators and sponsors to carry out pre-clinical research with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to assist in their development of new medications. This naturally included becoming familiar and skilled with preparing laboratory equipment and reagents for histology techniques on animals tissue, in a clinical research organization (CRO) atmosphere. Beyond those tasks, I also branched out further, developing my leadership skills through guiding a mid-sized team to ensure forward progress. My work showed a dedication to quality and efficiency, which earned me a lead technician role in two study cases. Throughout, I consistently looked for ways to improve processes, which I then presented to management. I'm humbled they saw value in my ideas and chose to implement them. Show less

    • Biologist
      • 2018 - 2018

For this contract position, I focused on achieving my goal - namely, to highlight biodiversity found on the grounds of this location. Through research and observation, I compiled information including scientific facts and environmental characteristics, then designed informative panels for installation along pathways. This aided in increasing awareness as well as giving the residents something educational and interesting for their enjoyment, while also advising them on what to do or not do with the wildlife. In addition, I coordinated with graphic designers on the designs to oversee the look of the panels for installation. Prior to installation, I contacted agencies to collect bids, then present them to the client to decide on which fit the project's needs and budget. Throughout, I kept an eye on a firm deadline and the established budget, ensuring the project stayed within parameters and made consistent progress. Show less

    • Nature Interpreter & Communicator
      • 2014 - 2015

To combine my increasing expertise of animal care with advocacy efforts, I transitioned to a broader focus. In this position, I communicated to the public about issues in efforts to build community awareness, while promoting sustainable and environmentally-friendly fishing practices. Part of my responsibilities centered around preparing activities, products, and materials about different endemic species and delivering these to the appropriate audiences. Through my efforts, I was able to expand the reach to a much larger audience than anticipated. This led to distributing surveys to gather data as well as representing the organization at trade shows, and becoming a point-of-contact for the national Ministry of Forests, Fauna, and Parks (MFFP). I continued to develop my understanding of working with both animals and their caregivers, refining my processes for gathering necessary data at intake. Though a fast-paced environment, I also successfully managed all the details of registering visits, protecting client confidentiality on their records, maintained awareness of current and outstanding billing receipts, and wrote necessary reports. Expanding my abilities, in this role I began to actively assist the veterinarians during their consultations and procedures. This increased my knowledge of pets' care with a comprehensive understanding of their needs. Show less
