Amy and I were in the same cohort at Yale University’s School of Management. Amy quickly distinguished herself as an important class leader. She embodies that rare combination of unparalleled intellect, a strong work ethic, and a powerful moral compass. Through a number of circumstances, Amy and I were not assigned to any common tasks or work groups. In our second year, Amy approached me with an offer to enter into an academic case competition on health care innovation. I was hesitant at first, but really wanted to work with her on a project, so I agreed. Her leadership and support were inspiring. She was the kind of leader and professional that brought out my very best. It was as if she had an intuition about how to motivate my strongest possible performance. Everything about the experience remains a peak moment in my career. Her writing was clear and expressive, her process was inclusive of ideas, her leadership was understated but powerful. We won 1st prize in that competition, beating out 12 other business schools and Amy’s vision and leadership created the important foundation for our success. I look forward to any future endeavors that will allow Amy and me to collaborate and to see how her career progresses throughout the years. I cannot say enough about how highly I think of her talent and abilities and recommend her with no hesitations.

Amy Romano's broad knowledge of maternal child health in the United States and her ability to articulate its impact on women, families, and the heathcare industry have enabled may of us to understand the importance of our work as midwives and as advocates for the women and families we serve. Amy's writings have been shared with my midwifery students to give them broadened perspectives of the role they are about to undertake. Her work at Childbirth Connections is improving maternity care for time to come.

I led implementation and service design efforts with institutional clients including an academic medical center, a federally qualified health center, a UK Health Trust, and a research consortium. Hired during the start-up phase, I advised the digital products and strategy teams, cultivated and supported partnerships with innovative health systems and payers, and oversaw curation and delivery of content for patient education and shared decision making.
