Executive Vice President, AIA Honolulu
-
Apr 2003 - Dec 2015
Amy Blagriff, Hon. AIA served as the executive vice president for AIA Honolulu for ~13 years, representing +800 AIA members and allied professionals on the islands of Oahu, Hawaii and Kauai since 2003. She also oversaw the work of the AIA Hawaii State Council, representing members on matters of state-wide interest; and providing advice to state and regulatory bodies regarding issues affecting the architecture profession in Hawaii. Proud to work for AIA, in November 2010, Amy was recognized by her local Board of Directors as an Honorary AIA Honolulu affiliate member– for her efforts to raise public awareness of design issues in Hawaii; deepen the relationship between AIA Honolulu, AIA National and affiliated organizations; and for her successes in strengthening the Chapter's financial base. Moreover, in 2014 she was elevated on a national level to Honorary AIA membership for her long-standing contributions to the profession of architecture. One of the highlights of her achievements while with AIA in Hawaii, Amy helped lead a transformative organizational change from a less accessible upstairs Chapter office to an inviting, street level Center for Architecture-- intended as a gathering place for architect members, allied professionals and the general public - with a focus on collaborative leadership by design. Amy is past president (2010) of the AIA National "Council of Architectural Component Executives" (CACE) and served on the AIA National Board of Directors (2010) and AIA National Executive Committee (2011). Highlighting her tenure as CACE President, Amy directed much of her energies to optimizing working relationships and improving collaboration and communication across the AIA. She also served as CACE lead in the implementation of the new AIA continuing education system.
