Whilst working at Women UK Magazine, I was able to work with the editorial and features departments, researching relevant topics for features, proofreading articles, and overlooking the 'final check' process in InDesign before the magazine was sent to the printers. My time at Women UK Magazine overlapped with the process of the magazine launching online. This was exciting, as I was able to research content ready to be featured on the website and assist with the in-house preparation for the launch of the magazine's website. Show less

I was part of a proactive news team for Radio 1, Radio 2 and Josh FM. This involved researching and writing news stories for the hourly news bulletins - adapting scripts for the various stations - carrying out phone interviews in state of the art studios, and editing with Adobe Audition. Due to the company's prestige, I was able to interview people such as the United Nations Ambassador for the UAE. During my time at Gulf News Broadcasting, I attended press conferences, carried out vox pops, and recorded voicers that were aired on Radio 1 and Radio 2. From my time as a reporter and newsreader in Dubai, I came to understand the many differences between reporting in the UAE and in the UK. Show less

This role involved collected unwanted clothes, shoes, accessories, board games and other items for Age UK. I collect the items and delivered them to the charity shop that is on Ashley Road, Parkstone. I created flyers and distributed them around the University campus and student accommodation halls to encourage more stock for the shop. The shop contacted me in March to say their stock levels had significantly increased and they no longer needed a student ambassador. The first week was spent in the features department of Fabulous Magazine, where I completed in-depth research for various articles, transcribed interviews, attended editorial meetings, and proof-read articles. The second half of my internship was spent in the beauty department, fashion department, and lifestyle department. A personal highlight for me was helping the team at a fashion shoot on my last day, under the direction of the fashion editor. During my time at Hope FM, I was part of a news team with two other students. As a team, we sourced, produced and read the local news five times a day for the station's hourly bulletins. Our news team was responsible for prioritising and updating the local news for each hourly news update. This involved contacting a variety of news sources, writing scripts, and going out to get vox pops and making phone interviews for sound bites, then editing this material on Adobe Audition. We also covered the Bournemouth Food and Drink Festival on our last day, by conducting a live broadcast of the event - interviewing guests at the festival, vendors on stalls, and reporting back to the presenter.
