Volunteer - "Reach Out and Read"

Jul 2012 - Aug 2016
Reach Out and Read is an evidence-based nonprofit organization of medical providers who promote early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by integrating children's books and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud into well-child visits. As a volunteer, I provided a positive reading experience for children in the waiting rooms, as well as modeling reading aloud for parents. I stocked bookshelves in the office with gently used books and encourage children to take a book home to read with their parents. Show less
