I worked as part of a team based in Research and Innovation to record the extent of UofG's civic engagement. This involved researching potential projects, organising and conducting interviews, directing photography and writing up final features. My role also involved organising and contributing to a range of events designed to engage the university and wider community on environmental issues e.g. organising a documentary screening and discussion on ecofeminism for International Women's Week. I also organised a series of lesson plans to engage children from a range of backgrounds with biodiversity and the university. This has involved working with other branches of the sustainability team, contacting potential partner schools and identifying where our engagement could benefit the most children and support existing schemes. I was part of the team which coded and analysed qualitative data from UofG's Climate Change Strategy in 2020. The results of this report have now been incorporated into the final climate change strategy, including the adjustment of the net-zero target from 2035 to 2030. I worked alongside colleagues to prepare for COP26 with the intention of providing the university and wider communities opportunities to engage effectively with this important event.

Building strategies and events designed to engage students and staff at UofG with environmentalism. This included coordinating the annual Glasgow Goes Green Festival with partners from across the city, which had a turnout of over 400 guests. I was also part of a team which launched a sustainability podcast where we would invite guests on to talk about topical issues. Throughout my year in this position I also facilitated coordination between student societies in order to maximise turnout at events and promote further engagement with environmental sustainability.

My role was primarily customer-facing and involved: delivering hour-long scripted tours of the sanctuary to the public (this involved visiting the animals in their homes and so ensuring safety precautions were adhered to and making sure the animals were comfortable was of paramount importance); staffing the gift-shop; answering any questions from guests; data-entry; event preparation; and supporting volunteers.
