    • Mentor
      • Jun 2017 - Jul 2019

As a Learning Mentor, I was responsible for contributing to generating new referrals by working with a wide range of stakeholders in order to promote participation and generate referrals to Service. I completed comprehensive individual initial diagnostic assessments with customers which would lead to an informed and personalised training and support plan.I delivered one to one interventions at inductions and assessments and subsequent follow up appointments by one to one or group sessions. I regularly operated referral and liaison procedures with other agencies as required (i.e. local referral partners, colleges, training providers and employers) to support peoples’ achievement of skills (including certification) and progression to employment, training and education.I worked as part of a team to co-ordinate and deliver advice, guidance and training interventions that met the needs of individuals who have had limited experience of employment and who face barriers to gaining and sustaining employment. I worked closely with key partners to build on, rather than duplicate the support that individuals have already received from other programmes and an intervention, ensuring the support is effectively sequenced and adds considerable value. I was responsible for organising the client training for the Wigan office. I would liaise with around 20 providers to book courses, ensure all paperwork is completed and compliant and clients receive their certification(s).

Ingeus UK is the UK’s leading welfare-to-work provider delivering employment programmes to the long-term unemployed, recently unemployed and those with health conditions. As an Employment Advisor, I am responsible for assisting clients claiming JSA and ESA in their search to find sustainable employment. With a caseload of around 150 clients at any time, I am required to use my strong organisational and multi-tasking abilities to ensure I regularly exceed my monthly and quarterly targets. My role requires me to be flexible, empathetic and motivational. Working with clients through any barriers they face before starting their route to work. I help them to write and amend their CV, along with any cover and speculative letters they require. I am able to market clients successfully to employers, selling their skills and attributes effectively to give them the introduction that they require. I facilitate several different workshops to provide clients with skills and abilities in a group setting as well as individual appointments. I am also required to challenge client’s perceptions on wide range of subjects including timekeeping, reliability, productivity and job goals, assisting them to remove issues that are preventing them from returning to the workplace. Given the length of time that my clients have been unemployed, motivation is a large barrier and I play a key role in helping clients realise what motivates and drives them to achieve their goals and then put this into practice.

To identify and network with appropriate employers offering 13 week work placements which would be meaningful and capacity building for both clients and employers. I maintained weekly contact with each client on placement, ensuring that timekeeping and attendance were adhered to and that the employers were offering training suitable to each client's needs.

During my time at Donlon’s Pharmacy my daily duties included the dispensing of ready-made medicines which includes duties like reading the prescriptions, sometimes removing the patient's medicine profile card from the file and placing it with the prescription for checking by the pharmacist, preparation of the label and preparation of the medical aid copy including the pricing of the prescriptions and sometimes giving notification to patients when a prescription is due for a repeat.
