Since December 2018, I contributed to The Body Shop UK’s digital vegan hub with original, creative content in the form of a lifestyle blog hosted on their e-commerce-centric website. The blog, for which I wrote monthly instalments, was centred around my personal experiences as a vegan with a view to open up a discussion around sustainability and wellbeing with our customers. I immensely enjoyed this role, as I was granted the freedom to express my views and write about something I have great passion for in an environment with fantastic reach. Between December 2018 and April 2019, the page generated over 4,000 organic clicks, which sparked the roll-out of my original content being translated and published across several foreign-language EMEA market sites.

    • E-Commerce Trading Coordinator
      • Jan 2018 - May 2019

My role at TBS was within the company’s newly-developed E-commerce team. I was assigned to working on our websites for all our European markets, and assisted with new product launches while also maintaining high merchandising standards on site. Within this fast-paced, digitally-focused role I was able to learn more about the trading side of a globally successful business, alongside utilising my honed time management and organisational skills. Being a part of this internationally-facing team gave me great exposure to e-commerce around the world, allowing me to continue exploring this industry further.

At B&Q, I worked as an Online Content Product Specialist at the company’s head office. The role was a fantastic opportunity to begin my career in the digital industry; broadening my horizons in a successful, multi-national business such as this one has presented me with great exposure and first-hand experience. I was entrusted with website monitoring responsibilities, and was also in charge of pushing products live online as well as making sure their data, imagery and copy was all correct and publishable. Learning a whole new software database was a great learning curve for me too, allowing me to utilise my pre-existing knowledge of e-commerce in a practical way.

During my short time in this established business, I learned the value of prioritisation. I was quickly trained on extensive product knowledge; learning this in a small space of time helped to increase my adaptability in the workplace. Additionally, I honed my pre-existing customer service skills with exposure to a variety customers in this international-facing store. • Social Media & Web Content Assistant
      • Jun 2016 - Jul 2017

From 2016, I worked with Essential’s team at head office as a freelancing assistant, as a part of their social media and digital team. Throughout my time in this role, I was given the responsibility of posting regular articles on the company’s blog, contributing to their social media output on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, and liaising with media teams of other organisations to organise company giveaways and promotions. Having the creative freedom to write copy and photograph stock for the company was rewarding, and I have gained great experience in managing online profiles and compiling analytical data from the online reach of the different channels. Being a part of the online team was a beneficial role to undertake, and one which gave me a view of a creative career within a progressing digital age.

    • Sales Associate
      • Sep 2015 - Jul 2017

Working at Essential alongside my University studies was a great challenge for me, as it taught me to focus on balancing different aspects of my working life as well as allowing me to earn an income to support myself with. Being a part of the team at Essential as a sales assistant was a fantastic venture within my career; it allowed me to practise and refine communication and organisation skills, as well as gaining sociability and learning to balance and prioritise tasks too. Being a part of a smaller company was rewarding and exciting, allowing me to see how a successful business is run and be a meaningful part of that.

Over the summer I worked in an office with a team of industry professionals, which was a valuable experience and gave me a refreshed perspective on working within a team in an office environment. Throughout my time with Gong, I was entrusted with tasks such as social media management, data collection and contacting external companies for venues and events organisation. Working within an international public relations agency has been highly advantageous, as I have been exposed to an industry that relies on teamwork and coordination, and thus has allowed me to develop my skills in those areas further.

Oasis gave me the opportunity to work for a major brand and develop my retail knowledge. As a Sales Assistant I enjoyed being part of a team, working to high standards of customer service, helping to increase sales and ensure lots of repeat business and loyalty. During my time there, Oasis Guildford went through a staff restructure and I became the temporary Supervisor. This role change enabled me to take on more responsibility, such as providing weekly trading reports and participating in conference calls, as well as managing deliveries, sale launches and visual merchandising.

At NME I gained an insight into the alternative side to the music journalism industry, which helped me to understand the importance of connectivity within the industry; giving me a chance to develop my writing style to suit any audience. I worked with the graphic designer, helping to create new typefaces for use within the publication, which opened my eyes to the creative side of the business. Working as a part of a team, I also transcripted audio interviews given at Glastonbury Music Festival by actors and musicians to be used in relevant articles for the special edition issue.

Working at Marie Claire was a fantastic, first-hand introduction to journalism, as I was given opportunities to work in almost every department of the magazine. Alongside the Graphics team, I assisted in the production and layout for the September 2011 issue using Adobe InDesign. I also spent some time working in the Fashion department, working to strict deadlines, organising and dispatching clothing samples for photo shoots, and while with the Features department I wrote a short article to be published on the magazine's website. A major highlight was being an assistant to the Beauty team for an on-location photo shoot, which was later published in the September issue.
