Learning Developer/Technical Writer (Enterprise Technical Learning Team)
-
Aug 2005 - Mar 2008
My team developed online training courses for a non-IBM audience. Course topics were software testing, software development, software quality, and software security. I obtained course material from subject matter experts and then organized it (often editing and writing for clarification) with web page templates. Process involved assembling text, illustrations, and other graphics according to style guidelines. When pages were complete, each writer wrote review criteria and end-of-course assessment questions. Extra tasks assigned included researching sources of quoted excerpts and acquiring permission to cite, as well as writing instructor/user guides to accompany three of the four courses. Reason for leaving: Project was grant-funded government contract. When contract successfully fulfilled, team was disbanded.

Resource Coordinator (PC Institute, Technology-Based-Training Team)
-
2000 - 2001
My job was to organize resources and workflow for a team at PC Institute that produced an internal IBM training curriculum. For multiple concurrent projects, I made sure a team of project leaders, writers, editors, multimedia developers, graphic designers, desktop publishers, and audio/visual technicians was assembled and that workload was balanced evenly. Together, we ensured timely, cost-efficient, quality-tested education materials across several products and brands. Reason for leaving: Personal Leave of Absence to focus on family and start home business when husband started Executive MBA graduate school program.

Project Leader/Instructor-Developer (WorldWide HelpCenter Education Team)
-
1996 - 1998
I was hired as the Class Manager for the New Hire Training Program (customized six-week curriculum) for technical product specialists and staff in the RTP HelpCenter. This position required coordinating multiple overlapping classes in terms of reserving classrooms, organizing prerequisites, booking instructors, and fulfilling technical requirements for courses, classrooms, and students. To help with the startup of a HelpCenter in Ireland, I spent 6 weeks in Dublin as a Class Manager, Instructor, and Project Manager to establish processes and best practices. For HelpCenters in Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil, I trained their employees who came to RTP.Once the product specialists graduated from the new hire training program, I coordinated skills assessments and continuing education courses for them, a process that included data collection, reporting, and Y2K readiness.Reason for leaving: Maternity leave
