      The Water Quality Monitoring Field Specialist collects surface water samples at representative sample sites at various streams throughout the watershed. The specialist conducts field analyses for the presence of chemical parameters and notes the conditions at the site. The specialist collaborates with individuals, agencies, and government entities to compile information not only about water quality, but other environmental topics and issues as well. The specialist should have a broad knowledge of acid mine drainage sampling techniques, environmental problems, and treatment systems. The specialist should be knowledgeable in many areas of water quality, as this person is usually the only person performing water quality tasks for the Conservancy. The specialist must also be flexible and able to assist the Executive Director in tasks not directly pertaining to water quality in order to help the Conservancy fulfill its mission including but not limited to environmental research, data entry, volunteer coordination, and public outreach and education.       Environmental Inspections consisted of insuring chemicals were properly labeled and stored, the appropriate spill equipment was on site, the proper forms were filled out, and checking discharge water for oil sheens, suspended solids, and pH within limits. Chemical Traffic Control was another duty that consisted of ensuring all chemicals were accounted for, the chemicals were labeled properly, and the proper paperwork was filed.
