      • Jul 2022 - Present

I currently work with Just Consultancies as part of my internship for my placement year at Manchester Metropolitan University. I am involved with assisting the sales team with appointments and making sure the showroom is organised. Another key part of my internship is using social media to research potential brands to exhibit at the tradeshows. Linking closely to my Events management course I am also going to be immersed into the planning process of the AW23 tradeshows which are held in Manchester and London.

I worked at Peru Perdu since October 2021 as a Host. From July 2022 I worked at the restaurant as a part-time placement for my sandwich year. Working as a host in a restaurant has improved my social skills and forced me to problem solve under pressure. My placement at the restaurant also consists of helping with the events at the venue which can range from corporate events to weddings. This experience helped me in the events industry as it taught me how to organise large groups of people and work as part of a team. I enjoyed working as a host and I think I learnt important attributes that will further assist me in the events management career such as patience, resilience and most of all strategy thinking.

Volunteered at The Modern Family show at the end of September 2021. This exhibition was held in London at The Grand hotel. My role was managing the main stage for guest speakers and ensuring they would be on stage at the time allocated to them and had all the props and equipment they needed. This was great experience for me as I had to use my organisational skills and show initiative for example if some speakers exceeded their time limit I had to figure out how to get back on track with timings. I previously worked at Peaky Blinders bar and restaurant as a server. This job role included taking orders from customers and putting them through the till, taking payments from customers, running drinks and food to tables whilst also giving quality customer service. I enjoyed working here because I got to interact with customers and make sure they have a pleasant experience. My salary was £8.36 with tips and I had a 0 hour contract meaning I only have to give 2 weeks notice. I previously worked at Peaky Blinders bar and restaurant as a server. I was on a 12 hour contract at Pro Cook which involved using an automated till to put sales through, encourage customers to buy our pan sets or knife sets by giving them information and personal opinions, be able to answer customers questions and queries as well as re-stocking and organising the shelves neatly. This job role improved my people skills and also taught me a lot about the products I was selling. I worked at Harrogate Convention Centre in the catering sector and also behind the bar serving drinks to customers before theatre shows and concerts. I worked at conferences and company parties serving food drinks. My job at the Harrogate Convention Centre included working as part of a team and dealing with busy situations whilst working under pressure. This helped me gain team working skills and deal with issues on shift. I worked at the Next store in Harrogate town centre as a sales assistant. On a day-to-day basis I took customers' payments in the form of cards and cash, I also took customers' orders electronically through click and collect and I was required to carry out general sales assistant roles such as dealing with customers questions and complaints. I enjoyed this role because of the interaction with customers. Occasionally, we did stock-taking which helped with my organisational skills. I gained social skills from this job as I had to talk to customers giving my advice and helping them find what they wanted.
