Built from the bottom up a team of 3 geomechanics specialists, a geologist/geomechanicist-in-training and a devoted technologist. We completed more than 30 geomechanics studies in over 10 Canadian oil and gas plays, including a groundbreaking regional analysis of the Duvernay. When the oil price crashed, the consulting business quickly dried up and the entire team was let go.

CDL saw potential in geomechanics, and I had the privilege of starting a group and developing a geomechanics consulting business.

Back in ops got sent to Canada. Spent a year navigating the close-knit Calgary industry and eventually found an exciting opportunity...to be continued.

      • Mar 2008 - Jun 2011

Fresh out of my PhD and GeoMechanics International had grown to nearly 80 employees globally. They asked me to develop a career progression and technical training program. We were acquired by Baker Hughes, and I eventually found myself in a corporate training and development role. I saw unconventionals on the rise and decided I'd better get my you-know-what back into operations.

3rd employee in one of the ground-breaking geomechanics consulting companies. It was a great start-up environment. In addition to consulting, I was temporarily the IT department because nobody else wanted the job. It was a fabulous learning experience. I left to pursue my PhD. 3rd employee in one of the ground-breaking geomechanics consulting companies. It was a great start-up environment.
