Corrymeela is Ireland's renowned intentional community centered around the work of peace. As their first public theology intern, I worked alongside theologians and social healers to develop resources for faith communities navigating matters of spirituality, conflict, and public life. Joseph's House provides end-of-life and respite care for people who are unhoused in the DC Metro Area and living with HIV, AIDS, or cancer. I joined the care team of Joseph's House as a resident care provider during a year of service following college graduation. In this role, I accompanied hospice residents in daily activities, personal care, medical appointments, and through the dying process. Additionally, volunteers engaged in group study of historical trauma, institutional racism, and the social determinants of health, in addition to spiritual practices to support careers in social justice and care provision.
