I am responsible for planning and leading weekly worship services, as well as special services during specific seasons of the church year (Advent, Lent, etc.). I communicate about church activities and events with the larger congregation. I lead Bible studies and classes at different times during the year. I plan officer training events for my church leadership. I use social media as a way to publicize church events and church life. I blog regularly, both personal essays and my weekly sermons. I contribute articles to the Minister's Corner section of the local newspaper. I help with the serving of a community meal at the Salvation Army. I participate in Shawnee's ecumenical association of clergy. I co-lead a weekly, non-denominational Bible study at the Shawnee YMCA. I consistently seek new ways to make our congregation's mission and ministry visible to the wider public. This includes the on-line congregation that I am building through my blog on social media. Stated Supply Pastor
-
Oct 2006 - Aug 2011
I served as the Stated Supply Pastor. I preached and led worship every Sunday. I moderated monthly session meetings, as well as annual congregation meetings. I taught Confirmation classes, led Bible Studies, worked with the Board of Deacons, created and led the youth group, visited and served communion to home-bound members and friends of the church. I became an active member of the community, and worked ecumenically with other churches in the area. I served as the Stated Supply Pastor. I preached and led worship every Sunday. For both subjects, I created a curriculum that included writing projects, group presentation projects, journals, book reports, guest speakers, movies, television episodes, advertising, and creative testing. I was a popular teacher on campus, with my classes usually reaching full enrollment. I taught face-to-face classes in both Introduction to Ethics and Introduction to Religion.
