My role as a retail artist requires excellent customer service skills, this can involve adapting each service to the specific client while providing makeup application services to walk in and scheduled clients. Having good product knowledge helps to advise each customer to the best of my ability. It is also important to let potential customers know about the brand and get them excited about what we have to offer. I regularly hit my personal KPI target which goes towards the counter as a whole. Even when the store is quiet I look at practicing new looks, bringing something different and always pushing myself for new ideas while representing the company and keeping the counter hygienic. As a retail artist my role involved making every customer feel welcome while delivering product knowledge and advising them to what will best be suited to their needs. Each month I was consistently above my KPI targets and enjoyed building loyalty with customers and working with a wide range of skincare and cosmetics. We hosted many theme days and events on counter trying to bring more interest to the brand especially with new product launches. My job as a Sales Assistant took me all over the store. More often than not I was on the shop floor, or in the windows, being given responsibility for basic visual merchandising, stock control and customer service. The store I worked in was large and was often in charge of keeping two floors worth of stock faced up and looking good in a store that makes over £3m turnover a year. Other duties included cash handling and transactions, buying stock, completing stock checks and other reports, and fulfilling our e-commerce side of the business, which involved picking and packing orders for customers to be dispatched daily. My role as a retail artist involved working along a strong team at the busiest MAC counter in Western Australia, during my time there I attended lots of training both artistry and customer service related. When it was quiet the team would always work on theme days, putting on events and keeping the counter clean and well stocked. During my time working for Hurly Burly I was mostly running a costume and alternative store with a junior member of staff, with a strong customer focus and wanting each customer to have the best experience. I would order stock from warehouses, help with the store social media and occasionally work as a make up artist when doing promotional photoshoots for the store. I made sure stock checks were done regular to keep the store fully stocked and keep everything tidy and to a good standard.
