My role as a Merchandising Assistant at Mint Velvet held many responsibilities. My daily duties included creating and maintaining purchase orders, managing the intake process, and delivery schedule by developing strong working relationships across all departments and suppliers. My role also required weekly analysis, at a line/ department level of sales figures and trends to ensure maximum profit opportunity. Other than these key tasks, I took on various different roles within the company to challenge and develop my knowledge in the industry. I created various weekly sheets that are regularly used by all departments within the company at all levels including weekly sales figures. I also independently created sizing ratios for all purchase orders using previous sales and departmental knowledge. This role really encouraged my excel skills to progress rapidly. I entered the company with a basic understanding of excel however have since completed a training course, but have learned the majority of my skills on the job. I use excel on a daily basis, for basic tasks and more in-depth analysis. I can confidently use advanced excel functions and formula, and also can manipulate multiple data sets, to organise and reformat correctly to more easily find and analyse information utilising the benefits of pivot tables regularly. I am always developing within my role and I am playing an active part in more in-depth analysis tasks, leading meetings regarding the delivery schedule, intake and branch allocation meetings which have helped make me a very organised person, having to be on top of various departments and styles at once without relying on others on my team. Work experience at Johnson & Johnson Maidenhead offices observing the many different departments situated there including logistics, IT, marketing and accounting and talking to employees about what the specific jobs entail and assisting with day to day business operations. On the IT side, I managed to spend some time working with the enterprise solution system SAP to gain a better understanding of how an integrated IT solution such as SAP works across different business sectors globally. I was given a good grounding of how a multinational corporation runs on a day to day basis and attended various meetings within the different business department to gain much-valued business insight. At the end of my time at Johnson and Johnson, I put together and presented a business presentation outlining all I had learned and delivered it to my business manager. Show less
