I worked alongside Amolak in a digital product development team at British Gas. Amolak was a key member of the team, and helped drive and coach others to adopt agile principles when developing products. He took a test and learn approach to everything he did, and always championed the customer - keeping the team honest at all times. He drove many process improvement initiatives, and also took the lead in some agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and backlog refinement. From a development perspective, Amolak is not the type of person to sit and write code based on what he is told to do. He challenges everything in a healthy and professional manor - keeping the customer at the heart of everything he did. He helped the team massively to become a self organising team. To conclude, a bright intelligent professional who comes highly recommended.

Amolak is a very organised individual who never procrastinates on tasks given to him and meets all his deadlines.

For the past four years I have been doing photography/Design for clients, friends, and family. This taught me about working with many types of people, trying to find how to adapt my photography and design to what they were really looking for. It also taught me to think on my feet, coming up with solutions to problems that I didn’t have to think, but just to act on my instincts. Dealing with clients, working to a brief gave me the professional experience which has really helped me through the years, allowing me to work both in a formal and informal manner to fulfil the brief.

One year at Centrica has given me an abundance of knowledge and experience. Predominantly my role was a Web Developer but working with my team (Services in Digital), I worked with all areas; from BA (Business Analysist) to UX (User Experience) and PO (Product Owner). In doing this I could see how a commercial organisation works. I was also able to push projects live into production, working to a customer’s perspective and bringing value to the company. All whilst working with Agile working methodologies to shorten the feedback loop saving hours of meetings.

Working as sales colleague in the PC department was my first taste of the retail world. It was quite a curveball for me to deal with a mass variety of customers which allowed me to develop my communication skills. Dixons were very big on being a team player because we all had to hit the sales targets so we all helped each other to do the best job we could do.
