• Machine learning based robust approach to identify different phases in NdFeB sinter magnet based on correlative microscopy (Optical light microscope and SEM) information was developed and evaluated against the pre-existing reference results.• The developed model proved to be fast, accurate and more precise when differentiating optically similar phases.• Using Kerr microscopy to study the grain distribution and domain pattern orientations in NdFeB sinter magnet and then used a machine learning approach to automate the process of quantifying the ROI.• Performance evaluation was done against reference results produced by experts. The performance of the developed model gave results that were in close relationship with reference values. Show less
