Mabati Rolling Mills (MRM) Ltd. is the flagship Company of SAFAL Group. SAFAL group is the largest manufacturer of roofing sheets and allied building products across African continent having 36 operations in 12 African countries. MRM is engaged in manufacturing of Cold Rolled Coils, Aluminum Zinc Coated Coils and Color Coated Coils which are used in corrugation and manufacturing of bare and painted Roofing Sheets, tile profiles and allied building products. The Company has an annual turnover of around USD 200 million. Currently I am managing a team of 16 members and report to CEO Eastern African Region with functional reporting to the Group CFO. The job includes: Liaison with banks for working capital, project finance and FOREX requirements (including hedging). Ensuring banking facilities are timely reviewed, negotiating of interest rates and compliance with banking covenants. Handling Statutory audit, internal audits, tax audit and audits conducted by Revenue authorities. Providing information to the Group auditors for Group consolidation. Organizing board meeting, circulation of board pack to the directors and making quarterly presentations to the board on the Company performance. Preparation/Review of monthly financial statements, annual business plan, MIS reporting (Internal as well Group Reporting) and product costing. Review of inventory valuation (periodic review of BOMs & Routing data in SAP) and inventory management. Review of internal controls. Monthly Credit Committee meetings. Ensuring compliance with all statutes. Mentoring & Coaching of team and having team building initiatives. I am also on the Board of Governors of MRM EIB Trust (CSR initiative of the company) which runs a Technical Training Institute and a Medical Clinic. I was heading the Finance function of the company and reporting to General Manager at plant & Segment Finance Head based at Nairobi. The team size handled was 10 people. The job included: Liasoning with banks for working capital, project finance and FOREX needs. Handling of statutory, internal and group audits. Organizing & conducting board meeting. Preparation/finalization of financial accounts, annual business plan, MIS reports (internal as well as Group MIS), and product costing. Handling of import documentation, logistics planning and inventory management. I was also a part of the group finance team wherein I was involved in preparation of feasibility report for new projects which involved borrowing from IFC (World Bank) and handled due diligence conducted by IFC.
