As a 24*7 BSS Engineer (Airtel Network Mumbai) my job was to conduct new cell site surveys, supervise the structural team to install the shelter, supervise the vendor teams to install the BTS, Microwave Radio, GSM Antenna, RF Feeder cables, power to the site, rectifier, battery bank, route the E1 to the nearest BSC and patch it manually (PDH technology), get the site on air and get the drive test conducted by the RF team & then perform preventive & corrective maintenance of the site from time to time. • Ensuring network uptime by taking timely corrective & preventive maintenance of BTS, BSC (Motorola & Nokia), Microwave Radios (Siemens & Nokia). Fault detection & rectification. • Integral part of the BSS field team for swapping the Airtel Mumbai network from Motorola BTS/BSC to Nokia BTS/BSC also swapping the Microwave radios from Siemens to Nokia. • Cell site expansions with capacity addition to cater for more traffic. • Periodic preventive maintenance for network health which includes VSWR checks, Tx-Rx Calibration check on cell parameters& Outdoor surveys. • Vendor coordination for timely roll out of new cell sites & quality check for its implementation. • Coordinating with OMC engineers & RF design engineers in problem evaluation & solution with execution for cell sites with traffic issues. • Maintenance of the Data Distribution Frame (DDF).
