Final Year Student Representative and President of the Economics Society
-
Oct 2020 - May 2021
As I am in my final year of BSc Economics, I wish to make the most of my final year student experience. Therefore, I have taken on the role as Student Representative and President of the Economics Society. As a Student Representative, my role entails: • Representing final year Economics students through voicing concerns and feedback within Student Panel meetings. • Answering queries on Teams, via email and directing students to appropriate contacts. I enjoy taking on a leadership position, like being the President of the Economics Society, as I understand the impact and importance of decision-making. Alongside the committee members, we arrange: • Events like virtual quizzes. • Organise discussion material on current world affairs. • Support first and second-year students in their economics module. • I also invite external speakers to provide insight into navigating the working-life after graduating, and empower students by arranging employer-led skills sessions. It is crucial for students to have a community like the Economics Society, to access a range of different views and beliefs, to promote academic freedom and make friends.
