As a Research Assistant for the Energy Audit group under Small and Smart Thermal Systems, we perform energy audit/profiling and conservation analysis for select commercial and residential buildings and Datacenters on UMD campus. S2TS energy modelling efforts suggest an opportunity for average savings of no less than 25%, with low cost/no-cost measures and immediate or less than two years payback periods. Main responsibilities: -Conduct engineering walk-through audits of buildings and data centre facilities to collect information on physical infrastructure. -Calculate power consumption data UEI (Energy Use Intensity) of buildings and Power Utilization Efficiency (PUE) of the data centre. -Develop a detailed energy model in eQuest/ 6-sigma to simulate CFD analysis to finetune parameters to replicate real-world operating scenario with gathered data. -Suggest energy conservation measures (ECMs) to reduce the power consumption of the site while maintaining the ASHRAE recommended operating conditions. http://www.s2ts.umd.edu/about/personnel/index.html Show less

Submarine Int. produces luxury and designer pens where I had the opportunity to work on a plethora of projects, including the design and implementation of a water-based paint scrubber system for the firm’s paint shop while ensuring that no toxic fumes enter the environment or groundwater system. Have co-designed environmentally friendly writing instruments, that have an end of life value. Spring Health is an Indian based water company that utilizes an innovative point-of-sale purification and distribution model to sell affordable drinking water to low income, rural families in the state if Odisha, India. During the internship period, i was stationed in remote villages and worked in cluster cells providing services for up to 1000 people in each village. I had an opportunity to work on the low cost Electro-chlorination Plant technilogy to ourify water. Including installation and commissioning of plants capable of producing enough chlorine o sanitize 80,000L of water per day. Gladly i learnt the Social and Environmental issues and impacts plagued through Rural India. Show less

Engineering Intern

Sembmarine Kakinada is an integrated marine and offshore facility strategically located in the East Coast of India, catering to offshore drilling units and merchant vessels trading or operating in the waters of Indian Coast. I had a chance to briefly work on Ship overhauls and repairs, including the repairs and servicing of offshore vessels and ships, newbuilding, riser/equipment repairs and modules fabrication. Particularly I had a chance to closely work with Malaviya 10 a tug vessel. This internship taught me the varied technologies and fields related to the marine industry and gave exposure to closely work with technical professionals in the related focused engineering fields.
